J. Lacy is a skilled audio engineer and music producer based in Houston, Texas. His philosophy Sound Is Everything comes from his passion to combine the latest technology with his formal training as a keyboardist and vocalist to bring artists’ ideas to life.


Lacy has more than ten years experience in music production and is proficient on all Protools systems and the SSL Duality. His engineering credits include production for rappers Kirko Bangz, Chris Brown, Gucci Mane, Slim Thug, Bun B, J. Cole, The Clipse, Yo Gotti, Lil Boosie, Chalie Boy, Yelawolf, Killa Kyleon. Lacy’s work also includes engineering credits for break out artist Brian Angel of Day 26, (from Sean P. Diddy Combs’ “Making the Band 4” MTV series), multi-platinum R&B singer Musiq Soulchild, Gospel recording artists Kim Burrell and Shawn McLemore; and pop artist Pitbull. He produced “Get Off Me” by AMG artist Marcus Manchild and “Buttakup” by Baby Bash. Lacy has collaborated with producers Jim Johnson and Happy Perez on recording projects, and works regularly with Warner Bros., Jive Records, Universal, and Sony/BMG record labels to develop and market artists.

J. Lacy’s expertise is in vocal production, arranging and editing vocals, recording, mixing and mastering sounds with an emphasis on developing R&B, pop and hip hop artists. He was vocally trained for seven years with a background in opera, and heavily involved in music programs at Humble High School, Louisiana State University, and the University of Texas. He works with both major label and independent recording artists to produce radio-ready, quality music.
